How To Make Sausage Wonton At Home

These crispy, cheesy sausage wontons are the perfect party appetizer! Loaded with savory sausage, cream cheese, and melted cheddar, these bites are easy to make and totally addictive. Serve them at your next gathering and watch them disappear!

Ingredients
  

  • 24 wonton wrappers
  • ½ lb ground sausage mild or spicy
  • 4 oz cream cheese softened
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 green onions finely chopped
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sweet chili sauce optional for a kick
  • 1 egg beaten (for sealing the wontons)
  • Cooking spray or oil if baking
  • For Dipping Optional:
  • Sweet chili sauce
  • Soy sauce
  • Ranch dressing

Instructions
 

  • Step 1: Make the Filling
  • In a skillet over medium heat, cook sausage until browned. Drain any excess grease.
  • In a bowl, mix cooked sausage, cream cheese, shredded cheddar, green onions, garlic powder, onion powder, soy sauce, and sweet chili sauce until well combined.
  • Step 2: Fill And Seal the Wontons
  • Lay out wonton wrappers on a clean surface. Place 1 teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper.
  • Brush the edges with beaten egg, then fold into a triangle or a small pouch, pressing to seal.
  • Step 3: Cook the Wontons
  • Baking Method (Healthier And Crispy!):
  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking sheet.
  • Arrange wontons in a single layer and spray lightly with cooking oil.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, until golden brown and crispy.
  • Frying Method (Extra Crispy!):
  • Heat 1-2 inches of oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C).
  • Fry in small batches for 2-3 minutes per side, until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.
  • Step 4: Serve And Enjoy!
  • Serve warm with sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, or ranch dressing.

Notes

  • Air Fryer Option? Cook at 375°F for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Make-Ahead? Assemble and freeze raw; bake or fry straight from frozen.
  • Spicy Version? Use hot sausage and add red pepper flakes to the mix.
