  • 1 cup water
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • For the Chocolate Frosting:
  • 1 cup unsalted butter softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder

  • Step 1: Preheat And Prep
  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and line a 9x13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  • Step 2: Mix the Dry Ingredients
  • In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Step 3: Add the Wet Ingredients
  • Stir in mayonnaise, water, and vanilla extract.
  • Mix until smooth and fully combined (but don’t overmix!).
  • Step 4: Bake the Cake
  • Pour the batter into the prepared pan.
  • Bake for 28-30 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • Let cool completely before frosting.
  • For the Frosting:
  • In a large bowl, beat butter until creamy.
  • Add cocoa powder and powdered sugar, alternating with heavy cream, until smooth.
  • Mix in vanilla extract.
  • Spread over the cooled cake.
