Ingredients

  • 1 pound cake store-bought or homemade
  • 1 cup whipped cream or Cool Whip
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries finely diced
  • Optional: strawberry jam or puree for spreading
  • Optional toppings: graham cracker crumbs sprinkles, or shredded coconut

Instructions

  • Slice pound cake lengthwise into flat, thin sheets (about 1/4” thick). You can use a serrated knife or a cake leveler.
  • On a clean surface or parchment, flatten each slice gently using a rolling pin.
  • Spread a thin layer of whipped cream across the surface of each cake sheet.
  • Add a few spoonfuls of diced strawberries along one edge (like the filling in sushi). You can also drizzle a bit of jam or puree for extra flavor.
  • Carefully roll up the cake sheet into a tight spiral, like sushi.
  • Optional: Roll the outside in graham cracker crumbs, sprinkles, or coconut for texture.
  • Chill for 15–30 minutes if you want neater slices. Then slice into 1" rounds like sushi rolls.
  • Plate and serve with little toothpicks or chopsticks for fun!

Notes

  • Use angel food cake for a lighter, fluffier texture.
  • Swap strawberries for mango, kiwi, or bananas for tropical vibes.
  • Serve with melted chocolate or strawberry sauce for dipping.
  • Great as a Mother’s Day brunch treat, birthday party snack, or a fun kids’ kitchen project!
