Ingredients

  • 1 lb pizza dough store-bought or homemade
  • 1/4 cup pizza sauce or marinara optional inside, or serve on the side
  • 6 slices genoa salami
  • 6 slices capicola or ham
  • 6 slices pepperoni
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone or Italian cheese blend
  • 1 egg beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese
  • Optional: red pepper flakes fresh basil, or banana peppers inside

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • On a floured surface, roll out pizza dough into a large rectangle (about 10x14 inches).
  • Layer meats and cheeses lengthwise down the center of the dough, leaving a 1-inch border on all sides.
  • (Optional) Spread a thin layer of pizza sauce over the meats or just reserve it for dipping.
  • Sprinkle with Italian seasoning and red pepper flakes, if using.
  • Fold the sides of the dough over the filling, then roll from the long side into a log. Pinch the seams and tuck in the ends to seal.
  • Carefully transfer stromboli to baking sheet, seam-side down. Brush with egg wash, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and a little more Italian seasoning.
  • Cut 3–4 slits on top to let steam escape.
  • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  • Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with warm marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill or it may burst—keep toppings even and neat.
  • Use bread dough for a puffier stromboli or thin crust dough for a crispier one.
  • Freezer-friendly: Bake, cool, slice, and freeze in foil. Reheat in oven or toaster oven.
  • Swap meats for veggies or grilled chicken for a different spin.
